The Mount Vernon Archery Club is affiliated with NASP (National Archery in the Schools Program) and the Iowa DNR Shooting Sports Program. The National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP) is a joint venture between state Departments of Education and Wildlife. Several archery equipment manufacturers and organizations are also partners. The program promotes student education and participation in the lifelong sport of Archery. The program’s focus is to provide International style target archery training in physical education classes, for grades 4-12. Iowa Archery in the Schools Program serves nearly 100 schools in Iowa. Mount Vernon Archery participates in the Iowa NASP League. Mount Vernon hosts one of the best and largest NASP tournaments as well as local benefit shoots The club also competes in other community tournaments, including the Iowa State NASP Championship in Des Moines. Mount Vernon has also taken teams to the National NASP Championship in Louisville, Kentucky.
